Services
Heat-treating is the most popular treatment available that prepares a pallet for international shipments. Because pallets are made from wood, and therefore created in a non-sterile environment, the existence of pests, especially larvae, are common on wooden shipping pallets. As per government regulation and environmental standards, all internationally shipped products must leave the United States on specially-treated pallets.
A heat-treated pallet should have a stamp on the side, usually a square with HT and a serial number following. These serial numbers specify the pallet yard from which the pallet originated, allowing for tight control over the heat-treating industry, and making sure that any pallet sent oversees has undergone the heat-treating process.
